Hello all! I am looking at upgrading from my 7850 soon (maybe in the next couple of months) and I've started looking for a new GPU. I was looking at a 970, but I'm a bit skeptical about getting one because of the controversy about it's VRAM. I want to get something in between $250 and $350. Is the 970 still a good card in your opinion even with it's VRAM problem? I plan on playing Battlefield and most importantly, Grand Theft Auto V. For those who have a 970, how often do you run into the VRAM problem?

This is what I currently have in my system (Coolermaster HAF 922) ~
MB: MSI Z68MA-ED55 (B3)
CPU: i7 2600k
PS: Antec HCG 750w
RAM: 16GB of 1600 MHZ
HD: 1TB WD Caviar Black
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB
GPU: XFX HD 7850 DD OC'ed
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit

I use two monitors as well (one 1080p for mainly everything, and a 720p for side stuff). I also develop games (worried about Unreal Engine 4 specifically, as it is pretty heavy on resources). If the 970 is not the best option right now, what would you recommend? Thanks! :)

ok than just grap a 380X/390X AMD will announce the new cards @ june

your CPU if Overclocked shouldn't bottleneck anything

also u can only run into VRam problem with teribly optimized games @ 1080P like untiy and watch doge maybe thats it

1440P u might run in to it with MODS+ heavy AA

for 1080P a GTX970 will do fine for 3 years and if u plan to wait a 380X should be a sweet spot
