As the title says , I found a used i7 4790 for $200 and the guy accepted to take my i5 4460 + $100 for it . My current system is :

i5 4460 3.2 ghz with stock cooler
asus phoenix GTX 1050 2gb
8 gb ddr3 ram
1 TB WD blue 7200 rpm HDD
300w 80+ Bronze Dell PSU

Question is , should I take the deal ? and is the upgrade even worth it . I do a lot of multitasking and gaming , I play mostly open world games like the witcher 3 and fallout 4 kind of games .

Thanks in advance .

Well I doubt getting a 4790 will do much for you in games with your current GPU, an i5 4460 should be capable of fully utilizing a 1050 in pretty much anything.

If you had a more powerful GPU or plan on getting one in the near future upgrading to a 4790 would be a more worthwhile upgrade.

I watched benchmarks showing a 15-20 fps increase with that cpu upgrade so that's why I'm asking .

i watch the benchmarks of the i7 4790 + gtx 1050 and compared those to my systems's performance cause I have all the games people use to benchmark . If i believed that what I did was accurate I wouldn't be asking for help here .

Well I gave you my answer in the first post, an i5 4460 should be able to fully utilize a 1050, sorry if you wanted a different answer.

If you want to check yourself then monitor GPU usage while playing games with vsync off, if GPU usage is near 100% while in a demanding game then a 4790 wont do anything for you in that game.

Well in that case I'll just get myself an SSD or save for a better GPU . And thank you .
