[SOLVED] Upgrading from i5 8400 to which ?

im using gtx 1080 with 1080p@144hz. some games like bfv watch dogs 2 and sometimes witcher 3 hit 100 usage in cpu and sometimes fps drops. which cpu i should buy i7 8700k or i7 9700k ? which is good for the future games ?

B360 cannot overclock the CPU's you have mentioned above, you will be better off with non K parts if you are going to stick with that motherboard.

My recommendation would be i7 9th gen over the i7 8th gen.

Agreed don't bother with 8th gen parts unless they're dirt cheap.

i7 8700 has 6c/12t but i7 9700 has 8c/8t. i think i7 8700 would do better in future or am i wrong ?

Threads actual performance output will be quarter of that of an actual core, 9700 has 2 actual cores so it will be slightly better and we have the benchmarks to prove it.
The 9th gen is soldered with IHS so better thermal efficiency overall.
