Hi all. First of all my current monitor is an Asus vw246H and my current graphics card is AMD r9 380.

I'm looking to spend under $300 for a 27' IPS monitor that is mostly for casual use. However- I play cs:go somewhat infrequently- and its not a priority- but I'd like something that can basically handle the game in a decent way (like my current monitor). Something that isn't worse than my current one for gameplay.

I'm a complete newb to monitors- and all the choices are very overwhelming.

I like the looks/build quality of the Dell Ultrasharps and this one is selling for a good price on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/p/5032173611

however some reviews I've read state its not all that great for the money- compared to other Choices.

So my only requirement really is 27', IPS, 1440, and something that can handle casual cs:go play.

I'm all about colors and sharpness.

If someone could help me pick out a monitor - I would so, so appreciate it.

I'd like to stick with brands that are well known and established like dell and asus. But feel free to educate me- as I'm aware some of the best deals are from other brands.

Well, what do you mean "handle"?
any monitor can run any game, it just depends on resolution and refresh rate.

I Don't have specific reccomendations, but
For sharpness, look for a 2560x1440p monitor.
For colors, look at the spec sheet and see what kind of % it has of rgb/srgb/adobe rgb/dci p3.
Those are in order. the more precentages of the higher tiers are better.

As for the csgo part. csgo is a fast pace game that will definitely benefit from higher refresh rate.
But, high refresh rate monitors are much more expensive.
You might find a 1440p 144hz or 120hz for 300$(1440p is resolution, 144hz or 120hz is refresh rate. not a big difference between 144 and 120, as 60 is significantly slower.)
But colors will probably suck, so if colors...

But colors will probably suck, so if colors matter to you more than the smoothness in game, get a higher quality 60hz.

I would personally care less about colors and more about refresh rate, but different people, different needs.

Solution
thank you! So my current monitor is 60hz and honestly its fine for cs:go for me. So that dell for example is also 60hz- but my monitor says it has a 2ms response where as the dell has a 6ms response - how important is that compared to the hz?

I'm set on IPS- so I'd sacrifice the gaming element for everything else. I just didn't want something worse than my current one (for gameplay)
