I’ve made the upgrade from a Ryzen 5 1600 to 3600. I have a Tomahawk b350 motherboard.

The 1600 is currently OCed (I changed clock speed, voltage, turned precision boost off, etc) in my bios, I want to make sure I prepare the mobo/system for the installation of the new 3600 with clean out of box settings. Does resetting the BIOS to defaults also reset the bios version to the out of box config? My concern is that I need the new bios version for the b350 to accept the 3000 series cpu. Of course I can reset and then update the bios to the newest version, but I’m just trying to plan ahead.

thanks in advance! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

... Does resetting the BIOS to defaults also reset the bios version to the out of box config?...

Resetting to defaults does not change BIOS version, it just changes the settings to default values.

It's also a very good idea to do a CMOS reset after updating the BIOS to a new version. You short some reset pins on the motherboard for that, instructions are in the manual. This does not change the BIOS version either. It just more fully clears CMOS settings, even those the reset defaults might not get.
