Hi there, everyone. Thank you for your time and effort for looking to this!

Trying to [strike]update[/strike] upgrade my rig because it's been way overdue for some time now. I currently have 2 Sapphire Radeon HD 6870's which are crossfired that just aren't cutting it anymore for the graphics levels I want. Looking to upgrade to something that is still compatible with my other components that I currently have

Current setup;
CPU: AMD FX 8150 3.60GHz C8 AM3+ RET (No OC yet)
Corsair Hydro Series Liquid CPU Cooler
Memory: Crucial 4GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 (Total 16 GB)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3
Power Supply: ANTEC HCG-900 900W PSU
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 (x2)
OS: Win 10

I know I should probably upgrade some other components as well but I feel like a graphics card would give me the biggest improvement (please advise if I'm mistaken). I just want to ensure that anything I upgrade to is compatible with what I have and worth it.

As far as graphics cards go, I have no price point and I'm looking for the latest and greatest that won't be hindered (in a major way) with what I already have. Thank you for your input in advance.

Hmmmm, I was hoping the fx-8150 would be able to handle more than that. Would there be any harm in going with the RX 480 and then upgrading the mobo and cpu at a later time when AMD releases Ryzen? I understand it will bottleneck the gpu at times but it should still provide a better overall experience for those times that it doesn't (as few and far between as they may be). Is the 480 worth it for the money or is the 470 the better value considering its cost?

Would OC'ing my fx-8150 provide any benefit?

Thank you much for your input, always appreciated! :)

The harm with bottlenecking is you see no fps gain. Overclocking wouldn't help even with the 8370. They are just to weak per core for gaming. The only reason I suggest the 470 is because is such a great bang for the buck. Even without the bottlenecking I wouldn't suggest the 480 over the 470. I sugggest saving some money for an AMD Ryzen CPU next month.

Thank you much, guys. I think I'll go with the 470 for now and upgrade my motherboard and cpu when Ryzen is available. Appreciate all the input!
