Upgrading from two 970's to two 1080's.

My main concern is the power connectors, and this is my first time actually upgrading, and my PC is a prebuild. I have 4 6 pin connectors, two sets for each 970. Would all I need is an adaptor for a 6 pin to an 8 pin? Or would I need to unplug the spares from my PSU?

Than why not to buy a new 850-1200 watt PSU with enough cables and connectors for anything 😉 BTW, what is your current PSU model ?
basically there are adapter from 2x6pin to 8pin. There are a lot of 1080 with single 8 pin connector.
