A few years ago I upgraded my pc from HDD to SSD, no issues, my question is can I upgrade the operating system just by downloading from Windows Update? or do I have to install on a HDD and clone the drive again?

Your system is natively Win 11 capable.

You should be able to do an inplace Upgrade from 10 to 11.

Just my opinion, but for anyone else (glad it worked out for the OP), I would wait for Windows to update your system from Windows 10 to Windows 11, unless you have a particular need to do so (though I can't imagine such a need). The reason is MS is still dealing with numerous incompatibilities with Windows 11 (especially the 24 updates) and has blocked the upgrade for systems with known problems. The point being there may be a reason MS has not updated your computer yet. Certainly you should do some research, especially if you have a newer system and of course the stated obvious, have a backup.
