Upgrading from Windows 7

I have the Windows 8 upgrade dvd of which I purchased when Windows 8 was first released almost 2 years ago. Because of all the issues with the release I've been reluctant to use it, but now it seems to have stabilized and I feel like making a go of it.

Has anyone out there been through the Windows 8 update process? Any gotchas to watch out for?

I tried it "8.1" then went back to Win 7, It still had to many driver issues and incomparable software problems. Win 8 isn't a upgrade it is more like the redheaded stepchild you wish would go away.
