Here is what I am starting out with:

    ■Processor: Intel Core 17 2600 @ 3400 MHZ
■Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5750
    ■Hard Disk: Hitachi HDS723015BLA642 (1.5 TB)
    ■Hard Disk: Seagate ST3000DM001-9YN166 (3 TB)
■DVD Rom Drive: Plextor DVDR PX-880SA
    ■DVD Rom Drive: ATAPI DVD A DH16ABSH
    ■Monitor: Hewlett Packard HP w2338h 23"
■Network Card: Ralink Tech RT3090 802.11n Wireless LAN Card

    ■Memory: Unifosa Corporation HU524303EP0200 2GB (X4) = 8GB total
    ■Bios: American Megatrends P01-B2

I use this computer mainly for gaming via HDMI cable, (I hook it up 90% of the time to a 60" plasma)

I have ordered these upgrades:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($219.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro M 1000W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($149.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $499.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

From the looks of it, everything should be compatible with the new upgrades correct? And also, to explain to my husband, how will it make a difference in the performance?

Additionally I created a poll to ask if this is about as far as I can upgrade this particular computer. If not, please comment as well.

Also, will I run into a risk of the case getting to hot with these upgrades? (Factory fans are installed)

Also, I would have built my own pc, but my husband bought me this computer as a Christmas gift a few years back. Trying to stretch it out as much as I can. =)

I voted 'Yes" simply because the H67 chipset/mobo is past it's prime. The upgrades you have selected are good ones, especially the video card. that card will allow you to play with pretty high resolution on your 60" screen, maybe even maxed out.
I would consider one change: your power supply.
The new one is o.k., and on johnnyguru.com received a score of 8.5/10 with high praises for power regulation. But it is overkill: you don't need that much power. If you haven't already confirmed the order I would suggest dropping into the 650-750 watt bracket and get a gold certified product: will be about the same price, maybe a little less, will run cooler, and you will save a little on power.
Here's a nice one from the ''egg, and at a good price.

HX750, 129.99 w/20 rebate = 119.99

That much new RAM may not increase your performance, but will be good to have if you upgrade to an SSD.

Thanks! The order on the card and psu has already went through. I did however cancel the order on the memory. I feared as much on the mobo being past its prime. Good thing is I can take the parts (the PSU, video card, harddrives, disk drives, and network cards) and put onto a new mobo if it ever comes down to it. I just hope it will last me for at least a few more years.
