I did not think my computer could handle the pci 3.0 cards...I see my motherboard says pci x 16 but not whether it could handle 1.0, 2.0, 3.0. I don't have much experience with this to I wanted to make sure....thanks.

the 550 ti is actually a bad card IMO. Its nothing more than a GTS 450 with more voltage injected into it so it can achieve 900 mhz... baloney . The GTX 650 will serve his needs JUST FINE. and where did you hear anything about a 550 ti being better than GTX 650

I didn't hear I have both of them on different computers! :) And the GTX 550ti is better.

Ok well look. None of these cards are gonna do jack squate for the original poster anyways if he's gonna be gaming at that resolution. Its just not gonna cut it.... He could get a 7770 and it'd be better than BOTH those cards. But he said: 130$ is the most he'd pay..anyone know of a 7770 that is in that price point? No? Ok. Now if he's playing on more than 1 monitors well Ole 550 ti won't do anymore than TWO, thats right TWO screens so.. that cancels that out. There isn't ANY cards for 100-130$ thats gonna give you good FPS on that resolution. for another year.

Hey guys thanks for all the responses. I just checked my in game resolution and its at 1366x768 or just slightly higher. my main screen resolution is much higher but I dont think it matter for this dscussion. Not sure if your judgements will change at all based on this new information. Also if i buy the card first mention do you think it would be a good one to keep as i build a rig for around 600-700 in a year or just plan on buying a new card. Thanks for the expert advice. Cheers.

Well I would hold off on buy a graphics card for right now. If your gonna get a 700$ computer in a few months. Your gonna want the best hardware you can put in it at the budget line. a 650 isn't that card. and a 550 ti isn't that card. something more along like a GTX 660 would be a better option or 660 ti.

If your gonna build a rig in a few months then I'd say a Ivy bridge I3, a GTX 660/660 ti or 7770/7850. and a Z75 board of some sort
