To get the kind of performance and longevity that your looking for you would have to double your budget and get a GTX Titan or GTX 690.
If your willing to look at the AMD/RADEON models then you could get a 7970 for just under $500 and it would give you close to what your looking for...
Something like the 770 is what you need. It will run games maxed out and will do so for a while, as for later on you can sli a second card to boost the lifetime further. Any model is good, Asus, EVGA, and and Gigabyte are the best.
