[SOLVED] Upgrading gpu, keeping everthing else need suggestions plz?

Hello I've decided to upgrade my gpu. Noow i have a amd r9 280x oc edition but it doesn't have freesync, i would lime to be able tp use the freesync function of the new monitor i got for christmas and was wondering what a good upgrade would be. My pc specs are

Amd ryzen 5 2600
Amd r9 280x oc edition
Corsair vengeance lpx 2400mhz
Asus rog strix b450f gaming mb
1000 watt psu (forgot the brand)

I would like to stay amd if possible but i am willing to think about nvida.

Also i play mostly fps games like battlefield 4, halo mcc, destiny 2, and warframe.

I think you can go quite a bit higher with your GPU....be it NVidia or AMD.
What resolution are you running at and what model power supply are you using?

If you've been keeping up with what's new with AMD, they've thrown a bunch of new cards on the market:

I assume you're using a 1920x1080 Resolution.
Here is a list of their new cards:

1080p Bracket:
Radeon 5500XT - 160$ USD - 450W PSU required
Radeon 5600XT - Not available yet, coming soon - Possibly 500W PSU required
Radeon 5700 - 329$ - 600W min Required

1440p Bracket:
Radeon 5700XT - 400$ - 600W min / 700W max required

For 1080p....with AMD....I think an RX 580 or 590 would work well at 1080p...and with NVidia I'd be looking at something like a GTX 1660.

Depends on the games you're running but the RX 5700 can be your baseline if you want top tier 1080p performance, it's equivalent to Nvidia's RTX 2060. If you don't need that much horsepower, than the 5500XT is also a good choice and is comparable to the GTX 1660 or AMD's RX 590.

Depends on the games you're running but the RX 5700 can be your baseline if you want top tier 1080p performance, it's equivalent to Nvidia's RTX 2060. If you don't need that much horsepower, than the 5500XT is also a good choice and is comparable to the GTX 1660 or AMD's RX 590.

If you want to play at a stable frame-rate of around 60FPS with those games, then the RX 590 or 5500 XT (despite being low tier cards) will hold you nicely as the lowest options.

For fast action games, but the strongest graphics your wallet and conscience can afford.
A quality 650w psu can run any modern card out there.

If you look at the legacy listings, your current card is comparable to a current GTX1050.

Do plan on a significant gpu upgrade.
If the upgrade is not sufficient, you may feel disappointed if you do not see magical results.

Also, not knowing what kind of budget you are on, if you are looking at an RX 580, you can get them online like ebay used for about 100 dollars in the USA. However, you must be careful and check seller's feedback. Also, some of them are former mining cards. I did get a good deal on an XFX GTS Black Edition OC for just over 100, it's an 8gb card.

It's not bad, but I do have a 144hz monitor. As they said previously, for 60hz, it should be fine. For 144hz, you'll want a bit faster. But it's serviceable for sure. If you have the budget, go new however.
