Upgrading GPU, Need help

Hello All,

I have 1st generation Core i5 system

Intel Core i5-750
4x2GB 1333Mhz Kingston value select ram
Asus P7P55 LX Motherboard
250GB Samsung 840 SSD
2 x 500GB Sata Seagate HDD
1 x 2TB Sata Cavier Green WD HDD
Samsung SyncMaster BX2031 20" 1600x900 resolution

Nvidia XFX 9800GT 512Mb Graphics Card
Cooler Master Thunder 450W PSU

Now, my Nvidia 9800GT lagging on several games & I am planning to upgrade my system. I believe that my processor, ram, hdd are already sufficient & there is no need to upgrade whole system as my CPU/RAM is just at 20-40% in peak usage. So, I think I should just upgrade my GPU.

I am getting Nvidia GTX 660Ti for $180. I have budget of $200-230. Please let me know if my Power Supply can handle this GPU or should I upgrade my PSU too.

Any suggestion please.

The CPU is fine for gaming right now. The GPU is a good choice, but the power draw is 150W, which the PSU can't handle, partly because its low quality and partly because its old. So yes you do need a PSU upgrade too. Assuming you've $50 left for PSU, I'd get this:

Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.99 @ NCIX US)
OR
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.99 @ NCIX US)

Both are good quality, and will handle the system with ease.

Actually, both are mediocore brands, not the best quality, but fortunately, they're better than many others, so you can rely on them for a stable system. VS650 would be my choice:

Well, GTX 660 Ti is a good one, GTX 750 Ti is a bit less but will work on your current PSU, while being lower in price. There are no 'better' options in that range, unfortunately. R9 280 or GTX 760 are the slightly better ones.

Actually I am planning to upgrade full system to upcoming Intel series as soon as it will get released. So, I am looking for some cheap solution for the time being.
