Question Upgrading graphic card for gaming

Hey good people

N00b here lol

4-year-old PC built by a friend, now needs/wants an upgrade. The goal is to have a better experience running newer games like elden ring, ffvii remake etc, and hopefully will "last" 3-4 years.

I am thinking of graphic card only, but do let me know if any other needs to be upgraded as well... Any suggestion is appreciated!

Also, my usual setting is to use TWO 1920x1080 monitors if it matters...

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Here's the thing, if you want to jump onboard the RTX3000 series of GPU's you're going to have to swap the existing PSU for something higher in quality and with a bump in wattage. Had you been on a Z370/Z390 chipset motherboard with a dual channel DDR4-3200MHz ram kit with tight timings, you'd have seen an uplift in performance. On that note, what rams are you working with on your build? I'm almost tempted to suggest a build from the ground up.

You also need to mention the budget you've allocated towards your GPU purchase, where you're located and if your have any preferred store/sites for purchase.

rams, do you mean this? installed ram 16.0 GB. If not, where can I see it?

I don't really have a budget in mind. The current GPU was £256 including VAT late 2018. Overall the PC is about £950 including VAT. I think I was asked about my budget and randomly said £1000....

I am in the UK. Last time my friend ordered everything online from scan.co.uk, ebuyer.com and ebay.

Jumping to a 3060ti is a good improvement over 1060
Looking at Scan, price difference between 3060-3060ti is worth it, but 3060ti to 3070 isn't in my opinion, so yea 3060ti is a generally good if you need to buy now.

CPU-Z is a good tool for looking at the memory specifications.

Getting an i7-9700k or i9-9900k is another option.

2x8GB DDR4 3200Mhz is about right if you don't already have something like that. 2933/2666 would be fine to leave in place. But if you have 2133 or something, there is some performance to be added.
