Upgrading graphics card question

This is kind of a double question, I've browsed the forum and haven't been able to find a solid answer so my apologies if I'm mistaken.

When I swapped from console to PC I bought a pre-built PC and about 3 years ago I made my first build, that I'm now looking to upgrade.

Doing the research I have a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 MB, which should apparently be able to take a 1080. Is upgrading the GPU as easy as uninstalling all drivers (bar the onboard graphics) then just taking out the old GPU and slotting the new one in? I've looked at a couple of videos but they only show what to do AFTER the PC is turned off!

It is very easy.
there is no need to remove the onboard graphics driver.
Basically in most cases you just plug in the new GPU and install the latest drivers if needed (if you had same vendor NVIDIA/AMD GPU, even that is not usually required.)
