Hello,
Win7 64bit
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.70Ghz
8GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT

i want to upgrade my current graphics card to a gtx560ti will it make any FPS difference in games like MMORPG? Guild wars 2 for an example?

Solution
question: "Why is 6850 better than 7700 when its higher in version like why is 7700 slower than 6850 i mean? "

answer: The 7700 is a newer card but the 6850 is faster because it is an enthusiast level card while the 7700 is high-end mainstream. This means that although the 6850 is older, it still is faster and thus costs more.

Just stick with the 7700, it's more than enough for the games your playing at that resolution

Your build so far:

CPU:
Intel Core i5-2500K -$199

Motherboard:
Asus P8Z77-V - $ 129.99
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_722&item_id=047272

Graphics Card:
Sapphire 7770 - $110...

It will, but you should upgrade motherboard, processor, memory. take a look at this table to see how much of a jump in performance you will be getting just from the video card. Your cpu will probably bottleneck the performance of the video card. You will probably have to upgrade your power supply also. Power supply for a 560ti should be at least 500watt.

You will definately see an improvement in games. Your cpu will most likely bottle neck though. You could get a nice phenom series cpu and that should fix the bottleneck. (at least a quadcore and stay away from fx)

Nothing wrong with the new FX procs that just came out. If your a gamer just disable a core and OC to get more out of a video game.

because basically if i upgrade a new mtoherboard/core its almost samething as buying a new pc...also i have 550w and i just really hope gtx 560ti could boost up atleast 5-7+fps and it would be gladly enough.

so gtx 560ti alone is good enough to boost up some FPS or my core wont be able to handle thus making no difference untill i upgrade my core?

I don't know if you understand what people are saying by "bottleneck".The graphics card will not exceed what the computer as a whole can do.Simply put you would benefit more from a cpu upgrade than what your thinking. You could just buy a cpu that is an am3 socket correct? newegg has 4 quad core am3 not 3+ chips for 100 bucks around half what you are going to spend on the 560ti.Save the extra grab the gpu a little later

What the other are saying is that your cpu cannot feed your gpu fast enough to reach it's max output or "speed".

I would recemmend a cpu and gpu upgrade as it will allow your system to run modern games at a MUCH higher frame-rate.

Note: The cost of the GPU you wanted has been slit between the two components

The CPU:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2ghz
$84.99 after promo code EMCJNGN28
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The GPU:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6850 - $149.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908&name=Desktop-Graphics-Cards

or

MSI GeForce GTX 650 - $129.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127700
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just hook those up and you should be good to go. If you must have a new video card that is uber...

My recommended video card:

SAPPHIRE Radeon 7850 OC - $209.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102984&name=Desktop-Graphics-Cards

It's faster and cheaper than the 560 TI.

my motherboard is a Asus M3A

@thor220
hey! ty for your great great advice! i will take your word and im actually going to start planning and getting these items you mentioned. Just to make sure are there other better or these are the best ones that you recommend me to get for a cheap price that will run smooth and efficient with Guild wars 2 ?

just to make sure if you have any other comments before i start planning and getting these VERY cheap things you mentioned..

ALSO if i buy that core dont i have to get like new RAM etc...?
ALSO do you know other amd core but an INTEL? thats better and almost or same price as that one you mentioned?

Good thing I looked at your mobo support list, it appears that it only supports cpus up to 95w. Not that big of a deal but I will have to change my CPU recommendation.

New CPU recemmendation:

Phenom II X4 945 - $79.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4615717&CatId=4431

It's a teeny bit slower than the processor I listed above(and cheaper) but is compatible with your motherboard.

Also I would wait till black friday if you can, as there are always good deals to be had and I'm sure you could save some more money over the parts I listed on the deals they have. I just picked the best parts for your budget that were on sale but If you need to buy now, they are a good choice for CPU and GPU.

On the question of new ram, the answer is no. You are not changing your motherboard so it isn't necessary to get new ram. Games don't depend too much on speed but more on size. If you have less than 3 GB I would pick up some more, but your motherboard uses ddr2 which will cost about $70 for 8gb.

On the question to the Intel processor: You would have to purchase a new motherboard to be able to get an intel processor, which would cause you to have to buy a cheaper video card. In addition to that AMD processors have the best bang for your buck in the price range you are shooting for, so I think that an AMD processor is the best path.

Feel free to shoot me any more of your concerns.

ok thanks for the update but is getting core with the graphics card you mentioned enough to run a game such as Guild wars 2 with good decent framerate? Like i dont need to update my mtoherboard jsut the core? Like basically only those 2 core+gfx is enough? My power supply is 550w i think i might up it to 700 or 600+ aswell..

so i dont need to upgrade my motherboard? Just upgrading my core with the one you mentioned is enough to handle http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102984&name=Desktop-Graphics-Cards to its full its to get the fps i can get with these components? Sorry if im asking too much im really not experienced in these kind of things :(

Yes the AMD Phenom II X4 945 is able to handle the Radeon HD 7850 to it's fullest. I have a video card that is a tiny bit weaker than the one above with the same processor and can max out guild wars 2 at 1920x1080 resolution.

Yes, you do not need to upgrade your motherboard. The only thing you might notice is a bit of a jitter when loading new areas because your ram is a bit slow, but that is not that big of a deal.

FYI, the cpu has 4-cores. I think you said 2-cores above. The AMD Phenom II x4 has 4 cores while your current has 2.

On the power supply, get the 600w, you don't need 700w.

Keep shooting me anymore questions if you have them.

Parts Recap ----------------
Desired CPU:

Phenom II X4 945 - $79.99
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4615717&CatId=4431

Desired GPU(as per your suggestion):
Radeon HD 7850 - $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102984&name=Desktop-Graphics-Cards

and your perfect Power supply:
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series 650w - $79.99 after promo code: Halloween1 (ends at midnight, great deal tho.)

sorry but i have been trouble with another member explaining me that if i upgrade graphics card i must upgrade the core and motherboard aswell. Can you explain to me why i dont need to upgrade my motherboard ? He says that my motherboard is too weak and wont make use of the quadcore therefore graphics card aswell i really dont get that can you explain to me? thanks

he also said that you will barely see any difference if you upgrade your core and gfx without upgrading your current motherboard. He suggest me to get new motherboard to my likings (intel) with the sufficient ram i need, the gfx i want and aswell the core. So basically getting a new computer itself

@rdc85
thanks for your concern, here is the cpu support page for that motherboard. Near the end you will find the cpu on the list in question.

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2Plus/M3A/#CPUS

here is a few links to people using phenom ii's successfully on that board:

@niker37
The guys on that forum are worried that the gpu might oversaturate the pci-e x16 1.0 slot. The card you picked out may run 10-15% slower than max. You have a couple of choice to make

1) You could just get the GPU, but your motherboard and cpu would limit it's speed
2) You could purchase a CPU & GPU, but your motherboard would limit your gpu's speed
3) You could purchase a CPU & GPU & Motherboard(plus ram), and nothing would limit your speed but would be costly

hello i think ive made my deicision but you can still help me tweak out by helping me with probably a lower price but same quality as the one i will mention now:

GFX: Sapphire Radeon Hd 7850 : http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_558&item_id=053225

= $219.99

Processor: Intel Core i5-3450 Quad Core 1155
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=4_65&item_id=045428

=$199.99

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO SOCKET 1155 INTEL Z77 CHIPSET MOTHERBOARD + PATRIOT VIPER XTREME SERIES 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 2133MHZ
http://www.canadacomputers.com/Asus_Motherboard/

= $284.99

I shop at MOSTLY Canadas Computer, possibly Newegg if alot cheaper worth shipping, MAYBE tiger direct.

The reason why i went to this decision is because i realized that techonlogy ages fast and in matter of years these will be outdated again like my specs right now after couples years theyre outdated. ALSO black friday sale is coming end of November and December Christmas Sale aswell...

So im guessing that these items should go in sale, i know theyre very costly but i think it's worth it. I would like to anyways switch to an Intel from an AMD even if getting new RAM. Since the motherboard type i picked already includes 8gb RAM for a cost of price i think its worth it and will go down to atleast maybe $200 on sale im not sure.

If possible can you help me find a component that i mentioned that is Almost the same or a little bit lower is fine but for a cheaper price! But right now my goal is getting a new computer overall switching to an Intel upgrading the gfx and processor itself but since im only doing this to play Guild Wars 2 in might be an overkill and waste of money i really dont know once again im not really experienced so i just need your help to find me a cheaper price please thank you:)

i appreciate your help alot!

Im really trying to range atleast 200 and below i almost dont want to go above 200 but if its really worth it like the Motherboard i mentioned above ill surely buy it but if theres another replacement it would grateful aswell as i decide which one

Some helpfull notes:
- That motherboard is overkill for what you want it for, I can definately find a cheaper one
- You don't need ram that fast, there would be no fps difference. Go with ddr3 1600 as it's a good price and appears just as fast as the one your showed above. I looked at the mobo above as well and it can only O.C. to those ram speeds.

Also I need to know your case's compatible form factors so I can choose the right motherboard. I already know that it can handle atx.

For my case i would say: http://www.microcenter.com/product/283272/Three_Hundred_ATX_Mid_Tower_Computer_Case#

it looks almost like that im pretty sure a mid tower one.

ok i knew it that motherboard would be an overkill but couldnt find another one since i dont know how to look for one but on the price haha . Sorry but i dont understand what you mean RAM? does it refer to the 8gb ram or the mhz how it has 2133 mhz and the other one 1600mhz thats 80$ less than.

Alright i wont ask why there wouldnt be ram difference just to explain to me the motherboard that you can find a cheaper price ..

how about the processor you havent mentioned anything about it so im guessing its good? Its not that overkill one like the motherboard?

also my friend said about thing the motherboard has to be same model with the processor like notice the motherboard i chose is model 1155 and the same with the core thats what he said though..

Note: id like to also add how the motherboard has already included the 8gb RAM saving me $90+

Yeah the LGA of the processor has to match the motherboard. Here is a minor suggestion tho -
First switch out that 3450 with the 2500k

same price
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=4_65&item_id=035530

but it is faster out of the box and you can overclock it if you want unlike the other one you selected. Guild wars 2 is more CPU dependent than other games so you will need that cpu.

Motherboard:
You case does support micro atx but here is a full board for thought. I can get a smaller one for cheaper if you like.

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 - $ 129.99
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_722&item_id=047869

You can pick the ram for this as you may have your preferences, just get ddr3 1600. The video card you found on the site is the best one I could find as well. It's quite hard to navigate the website compared to newegg, lol. Tell me what you think of the parts.

If you buy all the parts: Motherboard, RAM, CPU, and GPU it will cost around $550 total.

sorry to make you go all through the work :( but can you find me an ASUS mobo if possible instead of ASRock. And you mean by ddr3 1600 is the Memory Ram correct? : http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_612&item_id=035851

also if your having trouble navigating with the canadas computer u can just go newegg give me the model name and ill just look for it if they have it here in canadas computer
