Upgrading graphics card

I currently have a GTX660 with 2GB RAM, what would be the best sort of mid range card to warrant an upgrade to, without being too much out of pocket (student)? I already know i need to change up my PSU and case so don't worry about power draw and size as can work around them, cheers.

Best option would be to wait for the R9 480 and the GTX 1060. They are rumored to have the performance of a 980 and will probably cost around 200$ (meaning, you will be able to run any current game maxed out at 1080p). If you can afford a GTX 1070 for 380$, go with that.

Yeah fair point hahaha forgot about that, 8GB RAM (unsure what speed), Intel i7 4770 @ 3.4GHz, need to update the operating sytem cause I've still got a buggy windows 8 that won't update to 8.1.

It's purely a price decision as that's a good setup. Anything from a 960 up to a 1080 would be my choice depending on budget.
