I'm have an older Dimension 9200 (XPS 410) with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz processor (soon; yet to be installed). I'm a bit computer savvy, but graphics cards always trip me up. I am currently using a GT 240 1GB and realized I probably should have looked for GTX in the title. Anyway, there two listings on eBay for a GTX 460 768MB (here) and a GTX 285 1GB (here) for about the same price but I can't tell which is better. I've been to various sites that rank the hierarchy and compare them directly but the pros and cons are all over the place. My gut is just to pick the higher number after GTX but I don't want to make that kind of mistake again. Power isn't an issue with either. My goal is to run Skyrim as high as possible at 1366x768 resolution; whatever else I can play is a bonus. Also, if anyone has other card suggestions, I'd like to stick to NVidia.

No, I'd say get a GTX 650. The 460 and 285 are very power hungry cards, and there is always a risk with used cards. The 650 is only 64W, and is a great card.
You could also go for the 750, whichever from the 650/750 is cheaper for you is fine.

I would like to stay under $70. Just about everything inside is second-hand. I think I may go with the 285.
