Upgrading Help

Hello, i am currently in the process of upgrading my 2 year old system to something more up to date and powerful for gaming curently my system is as follows

CPU = AMD athlon X2 6400+
CPU Cooler = ZALMAN CNPS 9500 AM2 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
GPU = nvidia geforce 280gtx
RAM = 8gigs of gskill ddr2-800
MOBO = DFI lan party dk-mr2s
PSU = CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply
CASE = COOLER MASTER HAF 932

i'm just gonna be upgrading a few pieces and i'd like opinions about what i have chosen, my upgrades are as follows

would these make a good upgrade for my main PC function of gaming?

get nvidia gtx460, much better than 5850 if u ask me. and u need 3 sticks of RAM, x58 is tripple channel.
