Hello I was wondering if I could upgrade my laptops motherboard, I have an HP 17-X010NR witch is pentium quad core processor, I want to put the motherboard from the upgraded version of my laptop the HP 17-X020NR witch is an I3 5005U Processor. Will this upgrade work? Both boards look exactly the same "all ports in the same spot" shape and size. My motherboard MPN # 856694-601 and the motherboard i want to replace it with is MPN # 856692-601.

Solution
It hard to say because sometimes manufacturers change the smallest things like I had experience with mobo swapping that was bad like my laptop I still use a dell 1510 I love it but I needed dedicated graphics so I would be able to run stuff smoother. so I bought a board for a dell 1520 because I doesn't have the defective graphics chip series as similar as it looked they where very different it fit perfect but they change the port for the dvd drive and the screen type because as soon as I put everything in and turn it on it cooked my back light inverter for my screen. So really it a gabble if they change stuff now it may not happen to you since they look like just a higher end board. because if it doesn't work you should be able to...
