Hello. I've bought a 7th gen Intel core i5 Laptop that came with one 8gb ddr4-2400 CL17 memory. I was thinking of replacing it with two 8gb ddr4-2133 CL15 for 16gb dual channel memory.

I would need to buy two ddr4-2133 CL15 instead of buying the same Sodimm that's already installed since we don't have any 8gb ddr4-2400 CL17 sodimm available in my city. And ordering online is out of the question since customs officials in our country are thieves.

So my question is, will the upgrade to two 8gb ddr4-2133 CL15 be worth it? Or should i just stick with the one 8gb ddr4-2400 CL17?
Or should i save money and just buy one 8gb ddr4-2133 CL15 and mix it with the ddr4-2400 CL17 and hope that intel flex technology will dual channel the different Sodimms?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it will work in dual-channel mode.
But it will be operating in the slowest speed of both RAM (2133)

DIMM freq speed doesn't gain much performance in real world tests/gaming. what matter for memory is capacity not speed.
For maximum stability it's recommended to get same specs and manufacturer to pair with your 2400mhz RAM.

So i went back to the laptop store and they suggested that i just have an 8gb ddr4-2133 CL15 installed and the intel flex texhnology will dual channel the rams even though the stock ram has a different CL (17) and frequency (2400).

I guess it worked:

It also shows dual-channel mode at CPU-Z. Just forgot to take a picture of it.
