Upgrading major components. Advice please.

Here is the situation. I am currently running a system that is as follows...

CPU-Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
MOBO-DFI Lanparty UT P35
RAM - 4 gigs GSKILL something 800mhz?
GPU - Radeon HD 5770


Those are the parts I want to replace. Everything else is in great shape and would work nicely with new parts.

My goal with computer is to do a lot of gaming, Photoshop/Illustrator, Streaming, video editing and video rendering. What do you guys think?

-new nvidia card

viable option for upgrade is :
-buy large SSD : samsung 840 pro 250GB or intel 330 256GB
-get better quality power supply

those 2 parts can be used in the future build

btw what software do u use for vide editing/rendering?

to many ppl doesnt know how to optimize premiere/AE. even a dual core intel using the right GPU can beat i7 by a large shameful margin

for games 660 is 2-3x times 5770 performace, and ultimate part for premiere CS6. good partial upgrade until newer NVIDIA line up coming

Reasonable, with a couple of exceptions:

1. The Corsair ram has high heat spreaders which will interfere with many cpu coolers. They are mostly marketing.
Look for low profile ram. I might suggest this cas 9 kit for less:

2. The asus motherboard is nice, but you can find an equally good Z77 based motherboard for half the price.

3. A build with this budget should have a SSD. 120gb will hold the os and a handful of games. 180gb or 240gb would be better.
Everything you do will feel much quicker.

4. Your current psu should be OK since it is functioning now. But be advised that it is considered a tier 4 unit on this list:

As to waiting for haswell, consider your current situation.
If your current pc is not satisfying you, then go ahead and upgrade. I consider the 3570K and 3770K chips to be 4 year cpu's.

If you wait for the next best thing, you will wait forever.

Not good compared to Samsung 840 pro for less.

Actually, Intel 330 or 335 and samsung 840/830 at about $200 will perform just as well in real life as compared to synthetic benchmarks.
