Hey, I just bought an Inspiron 17 7706 laptop with 16gb DDR4 3200mhz. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/del...n-1-laptop/spd/inspiron-17-7706-2-in-1-laptop

I'd like to upgrade the memory to 32gb or 64gbs but Dell's specs say 16gb is the limit. Crucial lists their 32gb and 64gb 3200mhz kits as compatible with this model. Several users in the reviews says they've successfully upgraded 32gb or 64gb.

It's an 11th generation Core i7 so it should be able to handle it. Does anyone see any problem with trying to upgrade the memory?

Get the 32 or 64GB kit from crucial.
If it does not work send it back.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Yeah, the service manual does show two slots for ram but the official supported ram on that 2-in-1 is 16GB per the specs listed on their documentation.

Might I ask what you'd want to do with 32GB's of ram on a 2-in-1? The fact that the maximum ram is 16GB might indicate that the chipset has been limited/locked from within BIOS or the internal design does not facilitate the extra heat dumped by more ram(courtesy of the IMC).

Thanks for responding! I would want 32gbs because I'm a programmer and I like to keep many programs and chrome tabs open and running as part of my workflow. ( I don't game.) On my old laptop I'm replacing, I have 16gbs DDR3 and I'm regularly at 80 to 90%+ memory usage.
