Upgrading mobo install question

I'm upgrading from a msi ms-7778 to a Asrock z87 extreme4 along with a new cpu/gpu/psu.

Besides from physically installing the new board do I have to do anthything else for it to work?

Do you mean aside from installing your new copy of windows on it?
While the HP windows will work for a while expect it to fail Geniune Advantage checking, eventually it will detect your new motherbd and require you to get a new key. The OEM version of win7 is tied to the motherbd it was installed on. When it does fail, it should give you an option to call MS, do it. They sometimes give you the code to authorize it 🙂

Does it matter if right now I have windows 8, would all my saved data carry over to 7 if I call for a code?
