I'm upgrading from AMD CPU & Motherboard to Intel CPU & Motherboard.

I already took my PC apart and I'm now seeing people stating you must uninstall windows etc before putting new specs in. Rebuilding my computer to do so is not an option.. What do I do ? :(

Old spec : FX6300 with a GA-78LMT-USB3
New: i5 6600k with MSI Z170A TOMAHAWK and new Vengence 3000mh LPX ram, 16gb.

Is it possible to put these in and get my system operational?

I have my windows installed on an SSD.. I could maybe take it to a friends house and wipe it but its really not something i want to do.. I have alot of software I need kept on it. Also I don't have a disk drive anymore so I'd need to put a bootable windows on a USB... Will I need to wipe my HDD aswell as my SSD?... Again can I just put the new mobo and cpu in and hope for it to boot?

Estimable

I have upgraded components and changed the specs around, and I have personally not had any issue with doing so.

Depending on what OS you have, and if it is OEM or not, you could get an empty USB and download an ISO in case it has to do repairs with the ISO/Installation Disc in (Ignore the USB part if you bought the OS and have the disc for it).

People just recommend reinstalling it. Personally, I would try booting into it after having an ISO installation on a USB, and if it needs repairing just insert that and let it repair.

I'll be honest I do have a windows 7 disk but its on an old hard drive, not aware of how to disable the key so i could use it again. The current windows on the SSD is just a pirate version. Fully working and updates itself but most likely not OEM.. Also using Windows 10 by the way.

If your Windows was installed with an OEM licencse, then unfortunately it is tied to the motherboard; you will invalidate that license once you change the MB. If it isn't then it could be as simple as backing up data on the boot drive/partition to another drive/partition then reinstall Windows.

You can create an USB installation drive following the step in this thread.

Buy a new copy of windows 10 and install it on a new drive. We will not support you on this site in using a pirated version of windows.

As an aside, plugging in a drive with Windows installed from an old system is a recipe in frustration. If you even get it to work it will never run your new, very expensive, system as well as a fresh windows install.

Buy a legit windows copy. Due to pirated windows, this thread is closed.
