[SOLVED] Upgrading Motherboard, CPU, And RAM

I have been slowly upgrading my computer over the years and its feeling like it's almost time to upgrade my motherboard which will force me to upgrade my cpu and ram along with it. So I would like some recommendations. I would like at least 16gb of ram. If at all possible I would like to keep it black and white to fit the rest of my build. I would like to keep this as cheap as possible however I would like these upgrades to last me as long as possible so I'm willing to spend a little extra for a little bit higher-end parts.

seeing your system is INtel I will suggest first an intel upgrade, and yes your motherboard means not only cpu but also ram upgrade, which will all last you at least 30-4 years, since you did a RTX2070 as a GPU.
the second suggestion would be the AMD pathway, (all to not have the fanbois turn this conversation into a debate on amd/intel topic)

Regarding the swapped out parts, if you look on ebay you can still see 4790k sell for 100-150$, motherboard varies a little between 60-90$ and ram is about 40$/8GB

Just a slight change to The Paladins great suggestions but on the Intel side as the Gigabyte motherboard though a fraction more has a great 12 phase VRM setup....As to the Windows side, so long as you have the serial code it should be okay as I have phoned through to the Intel support side and mentioned I had an issue and had to change my motherboard, they then just made me go through a automated system which allowed Windows to work....worth a try but you can always find Windows at a very cost effective price.

Thanks for the help. One more question. Paladin recommended a different ram than what you have is there a reason your is better other than the price? I noticed his was a little faster as well.

Hi no problems at all...On the RAM side, it was just a cost thing, yes the DDR 4000 that Paladin suggest is more than good, just costs a bit more..so if budget allows, go for it...

Are there any new things coming out within the next year or so that would be worth waiting for? I'm not in a hurry to get this upgrade done and would be fine with waiting if it was worth it.

In the meantime Intel are about to launch a respin of the current 9th Gen CPU's in Comet Lake which will still be 14nm but with more ++++++++++++ , slightly improved and finally include a 10 core 20 thread i9 CPU over the current 9th Gen line up, though the pricing might ( a big might!) be better...We should get a better idea as to the line up this month or next on Comet lake but it will not be a huge difference over what we currently have. Alright, thanks for your help. I think I'll wait until Black Friday that way I can see what happens with those new processors and see if I can get some good deals.

On the modular Power Supply, the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold or EVGA G3 Gold are both fantastic Power Supply's and you can't go wrong with either...650w to 750w both are very highly rated and I currently use the EVGA G3 750w and it is great. Both have a 10 year warranty! Usually the 650w is very close in price to the 750w and if so go 750w.....

Do not look at the new EVGA G5 Gold Power Supply's as they used a new manufacture due to china issues and it is just not as good as the G3....

I am a bit surprised on the Gigabyte review as it is a good motherboard. On the Asus side with the Z390 Prime A the VRM is still weak...This review of the best low, mid and high end Z390 motherboards is by Buildzoid (part of Gamers Nexus) and he is one of the best..yes he rambles on but he knows his stuff and worth looking before you spend your money....Go to time stamp 20:11 for the Aorus Elite...

Bottom line it just comes down to overclocking, if you are not going all out on overclocking you will be more than fine with the Asus board. If you are then for the money the Aorus Elite will handle overclocking very, very well as stated in the review.

Its been a really long time since I set up a new pc. Is there anything in the bios I should mess around with, make sure is on, or turn off once I have the new motherboard installed?
