I want to get an ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-A GAMING WIFI LGA 1200 and Intel Core i9-10850K Comet Lake 10-Core 3.6 GHz LGA 1200.
I currently have Intel Core i7 8700K @ 3.70GHz and ASUSTeK ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING (LGA1151). Do you think i will have to do a fresh OS install. I really dont feel like going through the trouble of backing up data.. etc.

Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Unknown. You should PLAN on having to do a clean OS install.
It might boot.
It might not boot or blue screen.
It might have little problems you can never fix them.
Any of these outcomes is possible.
But you should prepare for the failure scenarios.

You can move the existing drive to the new setup and see what happens.

Could be fabulous or horrible or in between.

If you don't like that doubt, do a clean install, but of course back up your personal data first.

If you are on Windows 10, there's a good chance it will at least boot.

Why not go with an Intel LGA 1700 board + cpu?

Because it's not worth the price and the bigger the change the more likely I will have to install new os
You're going to want to do a clean install no matter what when changing over to a new board and as far as prices go ...

This is highly concerning. All important data should be backed up at all times, preferably in multiple places. If not, the question is not if you'll lose your data forever, but when.

Not properly reinstalling Windows because you're worried about having to back up your data is a bit like not replacing a bent wheel because you're worried you may have to replace your broken brakes.
