hi! , i see a lot of post that i really need to ReInstall the OS when upgrading Motherboard and i think that's fine , But i have some questions.

what will happen with my storage drives(where win10 is currently installed) ?
-(for SSD 120GB)will it automatically format every single thing installed or i need to manually reformat it?
- can i just remove the HDD 2TB and reconnect it to work with my new motherboard?
-what about the games installed? do i need to unInstall them one by one?

Thank you in advanced!!

Solution
Your SSD will need to be reformatted with a full clean installation of Windows 10. You will be able to do this in the W10 installation program.

You can just use your 2TB hard drive without removing anything. You will have to point Stream/Origin/Uplay to where your games are located in that drive.

Make sure to back up your SSD files in case anything goes wrong. And I recommend leaving your 2TB hard drive completely disconnected from the system until Windows 10 has been installed. This is prevent you from accidentally reformatting the 2TB drive.

First, what OS is this? Depending, a new motherboard may even involve purchasing a whole new OS license.

Second...a new motherboard, as you've noted, really needs a clean install of the OS (and everything else)
What drives do you have, and what specifically is on each one?

When you install the OS, you can select the target drive(likely the 120gb SSD). Back everything up from your current install to the 2TB drive that you're wanting to keep. When you run the install, select the 120gb drive. The install will format the drive and install the OS. The 2TB won't be altered.(unless of course you accidentally select this as the target drive during the installation)

You really, really, really want the target drive to be the only one connected during the install.

Yes, you can select.
But Windows has a nasty habit of putting the boot partition on the 'other drive'. 6 months from now, when you remove that drive or it dies...no boot for you.
And mistakes happen. Many are the threads in here of "oops"

i have Kingston SSD UV400 120GB for the OS and 2TB Seagate Pipeline 7200RPM HDD , i'll just use windows 10 still, and i don't problem with OS.

Thank you, I'm about to do that by tomorrow. :ouimaitre:
