Upgrading MSI X99A Gaming 9 ACK ATXw/USB 3.1

I purchased this about 1year ago I think it's the hard drive but gaming and application performance isn't where I want it to be any suggestions on how to upgrade and increase performance would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
All I can really suggest in terms of performance gain is throw in a SSD for faster load times. Also you could update your gpu to the new Nvidia Pascal series coming out. If you need a performance boost right now could go with the 980 ti by EVGA (either the FTW/Classified/Kingpin) SLI or get another GTX 980 like you currently have and SLI. Another thing you could do is overclock that cpu and with your setup it has plenty of potential to do so. Depending on the ram and you could add more ram because that board is a tri channel setup. Mind you it might be a 5% +/- increase in performance.
