Upgrading my 270X to a 1060 6gb

Hello,

I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU. I feel like its outdated and I need a better one.
After looking around a bit, I think I want to buy a 1060 6gb.

(Yes the CPU temp is a little high, I will reapply thermal paste soon.)

So my main concern would be a bottleneck after upgrading my GPU.

I inted to use this pc for playing E sports games and new(er) games with over 60fps on higher settings.

Would this upgrade be a good thing to do? Or What card would you recommend for me if the 1060 isn't the best choice?

The 1060 6gb would be a good choice.


@BringerOfTea, The 1060 6gb has a lower power requirement so if the OP was running a 270X without issues then the 1060 6gb would be fine.

there might be some cpu bottleneck, but nothing that would seriously impact performance of 1060.

NO, i5 4440 will not bottleneck even a gtx 1070 .but if you get a gtx 1060 and want to play AAA title games in higher setting .You might not be able to get above 60fps in some modern games like Mankind divided,Rise of the tomb raider,The Witcher 3 etc . For playing EA games go for it.

Stock fan on CPU as of now, I was thinking about upgrading that aswell.
Im not sure about my PSU, but it's 500 watts.

cpu fan and psu won't improve performance, it might improve stability and longevity of your system.
if your cpu temp is reasonable (if not, likely you just need to clean dust and reapply thermal paste)
and 500w is plenty for a 1060. i would say just leave them.

Im aware. But I heard that the stock intel coolers suck. for 25 euros or something im willing to upgrade for a cooler cpu and less noise possibly.

the 270 (143 watts) draws about the same as a 1060 - so I can't see any problems.

I would get the Cryorig H7, it's the Evo killer as it's shorter, quieter and more effective then the Evo 212/

stock cooler it is complete unacceptable for i7 non-k,
but for i5, it's fine, it runs hotter than aftermarket fans for sure, but still with in reasonable range.

Will run an i5 at mid 50s max on full load.

just clean your pc and re apply thermal paste .Dont need to buy a aftermarket cooler.500watt psu is more than enough for gtx 1060 .
