Hello everyone!
I have a 3930K Which of course is from the Sandy Bridge-E lineup, and I see them going on ebay for roughly 120 USD.
While adding NVMe support to my BIOS, I also discovered that I could also add microcode for Ivy-Bridge E to the BIOS, enabling me to use any Ivy-Bridge E processor with my P9X79-LE motherboard!
I went to ebay and saw 4960Xs going for roughly 180 USD, making it cost me about 60 USD to upgrade my system to an Extreme processor which seems really nice.
From what I know Sandy does not support PCI-E 3.0, but Ivy Bridge does.
As I plan to get a M.2 SSD,and that my Motherboard supports PCI-E 3.0, I really want to do this slight upgrade. However I am still unsure about the performance and overclocking capability between the two, so I am looking for some thoughts from other people.
This is the auction I am looking at btw (Good pricing, but I habe to contact the user about the images as its not an Xeon CPU)
