I'm planning to upgrade my ZOTAC GTX 580 to a ZOTAC 970 but since I'm quite a hoarder and wouldn't want to waste my 580 which is still quite in good performance would want to keep it.

My question really is. Can I have two graphics cards running? My upcoming GTX 970 running beside my 580? Well I can just replace the 580 completely and have just one 970 but if my 580 which is still in pristine condition will be left in a closet somewhere accumulating dust, I would rather have it inside my computer boosting it somewhat rather than not using it,

Can it be done?

There is really no reason to keep your 580 as the 970 can do everything plus 10x more. Best advice is to sell it or what i do is give it to friends who have worse cards. :)

Agree with ZeroGravity780, TBH the GTX970 doesn't really need a separate PhysX card, besides the GTX580 draws quite a lot of juice.
Either Ebay/Craiglist it or donate it to a friend/family member, just remember to check their system can power the beast!
