Upgrading my cpu Motherboard and memory

I have around £400 to upgrade my system and i need to upgrade my cpu, motherboard and memory.
My current specs are
Cpu:amd x4 880k quad core
Gpu: nvida GeForce 1050 2gb
Ram:8 gb
Mobo:Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2
i am looking hopefully to get an i5 with 8 or 16gb of Ram.

Look on ebay for 2nd hand i5 & h170 board. (overclocking is an uncessesary luxury) put that towards monitor & GPU, SSD etc.

Unfortunately for buyers right now RAM has increased in price dramatically. consider getting 8gb of ram and buying the 2nd lot later. (make sure its exactly the same module & brand.

I already have a working system with a monitor and gtx 1050 but my cpu needs upgrading and my current motherboard is no compatibly with an newer cpus , i was looking for an ryzen r5 1600x and they seem good for the price and i will look into this thanks.

You can get an i5 6 series & board cheap on ebay. Sell the 1050 and use that and remaning $ to get a better GPU. Assuming you are after gaming performance.

but i also need memory as mu current ram is ddr3 8gb
