It has a G43 chipset so it should be fine. I have an i5 on a Z77 G43 chipset. I'd just check the compatibility of your other hardware, for example RAM, Graphics card etc...

In fact, my mistake, the G43 is for Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Duo... For an i5 socket 1155 or 1156 , you should go for the sockets numbered 61, 65, 67, 68, 75 or 77. These numbers will have the letters H, Q, B or Z in front of them. For example Z77 or H67.

Yeah I know, sorry I made a mistake there, I've put out an ammended post though regarding the LGA 1155 and 1156 sockets. Can't get it right all of the time hey :)

Personally I have an i5 3570K which is excellent for gaming, overclocking and whatnot. Also, there is a virtually 0% difference in gaming with the i5 compared to the i7. When you pay extra for the i7, you pay for Hyperthreading which games don't use currently. So I'd save the money and get an i5 3570K for gaming :)
