Question Upgrading my CPU

So I have a Acer Veriton X480G mainboard and wanted to upgrade from an intel pentium to an intel core 2 duo but even with the same socket type and the same memory installed. My mainboard does not accept it and does a constant beep. I have not changed the memory at all and it would work fine with the Pentium.

How would I do this? I’m quite new to the PC building and flashing or upgrading a bios is something I’ve never had to do

It's different from platform to platform so you will have to look that up in MB's manual.

How would I do this? I’m quite new to the PC building and flashing or upgrading a bios is something I’ve never had to do

I never flashed/updated the bios either.... until yesterday! Surprised myself how easy it was.

Download the update from the site. Mine came in a zipped file. I extracted the file which resulted in a single ".CAP" file (whatever that is). I put the .CAP file on an empty thumb drive. Went into Bios, selected Tools, selected Flash Utility, selected the thumb drive, and said yes to Update Bios.... 30 seconds later it was finished. Call me Bill Gates!
