hi i have a pc with a MSI 760GMA-P34 (FX) motherboard currently with an amd fx 4300 and i was considering upgrading to an amd fx 8350 and i was wondering if it would be compatible and if i have to do anything within the BIOS

That MB is way too weak for an 8 core FX, it would work but with many troubles because of lack of power. FX6300 would be better choice.

What do you want the pc to perform better at? At this point all FX CPU’s are very weak compared to modern cpu’s. It’s likely any investment in such an old platform will give you disappointing improvement.

Just theoretically, but not recommended as mentioned before, the 8350 will run with this board. Update the BIOS to the latest version before replacing the CPU.
Most likely you will need a different cooler, because the 8350 will produce a lot more heat and will force the motherboard´s voltage regulators to work very hard.
Be sure your power supply is fine and ready for the new challenge.

Think about overclocking the current CPU a bit.
