im really sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forums, wasnt too sure were to
post as im new here. im choosing parts to upgrade my computer and im struggling to be honest so i'd be grateful
if someone could help me, heres the problem im having.

the motherboard and processor ive chosen are listed below:

motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LX v2
link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-M5A78L-M-Motherboard-Socket-Radeon/dp/B0061YE97Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353354036&sr=8-1

processor: Phenom II X4 965 - 3.4 Ghz AM3 Black Edition
link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-HDZ965FBGMBOX-Phenom-II-965/dp/B002SRQ214/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1353354136&sr=1-1

i dont know much about computers, but both the motherboard and processor say socket: am3 on their details. the PSU(power supply) i was looking at says this: For Socket 775; AM2 and all backward comptable CPU's <<<does this mean its a different socket and wont support the am3+ mobo and processor?

heres a link to the psu so you guys can check: http://www.amazon.co.uk/EZCool-PS-1000-Infinity-Crossfire-Supply/dp/B00871T7JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353353759&sr=8-1

if this is not a compatible power supply for the other parts ive chosen, can someone suggest the right type of psu for me to use, at the cheapest price you can find please

thanks in advance for the help

Give us more information, are you using a video card? Planning SLI or Crossfire? Post more specs, so we can find a good power supply for your system.

A 500 watts Power Supply can power a system with a single GPU with no problem.
You should not cheap out on the PSU, get a quality one from seasonic, corsair, antec for example.

Here's some options: Corsair Cx500 V2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMPSU-500CXV2UK-Builder-Series-CX500V2/dp/B005851O16/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1353356550&sr=8-2
Seasonic S12II 520W: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seasonic-S12II-520-ATX12V-Standard-Supply/dp/B00390P1NO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353356530&sr=8-1
Antec High current gamer: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Current-Gamer-Power-Supply/dp/B004AESY64/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1353356811&sr=1-6

If you don't like any of this PSU's, choose one and post it here to get some opinions.

like i said, not to good with computers lol, i only chose 800w because the website i was choosing graphics card said the ezcool 800w psu was recommended for this card> AMD radeon hd 750(2gb) if your absolutley sure that one of the three you chosen will run the system with no problems, i will go with one of them instead.

what about what i mentioned above, in first post. does the power supply i was looking at not support the board and processor i chose? just wondering why it said
( For Socket 775; AM2 and all backward comptable CPU's ) does that statement mean that its not compatible with am3+ boards or am3 processors??? just trying to learn a little something about the hardware side of computers.
also, does the 3 PSU's that you listed support that board and processor. thanks for you help so far :) im useless with this sort of stuff

Any recent power supply can handle those CPU's.
Yes those PSU's can handle both CPU and GPU, the connectors are appropriate for your build, so you should have no problems.
