[SOLVED] Upgrading my friends laptop, having trouble finding appropriate specs

So its an acer with ryzen 3 3200u 4gb ddr4 and 128gb ssd.

He said its awfully sluggish these days.

i think starting with 8 or 16gb of RAM seeing as ram prices are so low these days.

Problem is i cannot find what RAM will fit, im guessing it needs LPDDR4 (low profile) being as its a laptop. but is it s 2x8 or a 1x16 module he will need?

I also cannot find what motherboard is in here so i cant figure out what form factor ssd he needs to upgrade. We live pretty far away from each other so im trying to help him order the parts remotely and ill help him install at a later date.

Does anyone know where i can find better info for this machine? been looking at different tech reviews and such, bout to start scouring youtube after i post this, thanks in advanced anyone who can help

Also, im trying to figure out if theres any way to acquire a ryzen 5 3500u CPU without buying an entire laptop because the extra Radeon cores will go a long way powering a 15.6" 1080p screen

You cannot change the CPU. It is soldered to the motherboard. 128gb SSD is pretty small. Make sure it isn't nearly full. That will slow the system down, and will potentially harm the sdd.

unfortunate about the cpu being soldered in there, is that how all laptops are? i know the macbook pros ive upgraded have been that same way but i thought some windows laptops were more upgradeable.

so theres definitely no route to improve graphical performance for this system? like a low profile 1050ti definitely wouldnt fit in here i think haha. his video chatting might be getting tripped up on a 10.5" 1080p screen by vega 3 constraints.

I do believe all ultra lights, which use a cpu sku ending in U, are soldered. I would say lack of ram is the issue, not the graphics, for video chat. If that 128gb drive is nearly full, that will hurt performance also, as I stated earlier.

That CPU is fine for basic use, including video chatting. The more likely issue is there are programs on the system that should not be on there (spyware, viruses, extra stuff loading that is not useful) or a slow internet connection through weak WiFi or just poor internet service.

Many laptops do not have removable CPUs, especially modern ones. Another 4gb RAM will help in this system as will a larger drive as already pointed out.
