Upgrading my fx6300 to i5 7600k or 4690k

Hello,

its time to upgrade my amd fx6300. I'm looking to spend 350-400 euro's.
I think my decision is going to be between the i5 4690k and i5 7600k, because they are both about the same price in the Netherlands.

So if I'm going to upgrade to either one of these, I will need a new motherboard. If I upgrade to 4690k I can use my old DDR3. If I'm upgrading to 7600k, I will need to buy DDR4 which will cost me an extra 70euro's.

So my question is: Is the extra 70euro's worth it?

An i7 7700 would be a better fit over the 7600k, the extra threads give more stability and stronger performance in 90% of titles generally.
Are you open to buying from Germany?
They have better prices generally.

For the price of an i7 7700, I could get a cheap mobo and i5 7600k.
If I can keep it below 400 euro's in total I would be fine with buying from Germany.

You'd also need a cooler on top of that as well as a Z board, whereas with the 7700 you just need a B250 board and the stock cooler.

I'm not planning on overclocking for now. Maybe in the futures.

Because the stock speed is faster than for example the stock speed of a normal i5 7600

Not worth the money, the 7500 is only a bit lower clocked, and is much cheaper, not to mention Ryzen 5 is a better choice over an i5 due to the higher threads and longer lifespan as a result due to the higher utilization of CPU threads.

Wouldn't a 4690k be good enough, because it benchmarks are close the 7500 benchmarks?

Where you are Z97 boards are pretty pricy, and I'd wager you'd end up paying more for the CPU ending out balancing it out anyway.

The i7 7700 performs far better than both the i5 and Ryzen CPUs.
Highly recommended.
Ryzen needs high frequency memory, and works out to the same as a 7700 anyway, no point given you're not going any really heavy rendering/video work.
