Upgrading my Gaming Desktop

Hey guys,

Below are my PC specs. I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC to play latest games at high settings. This build should last me the next 3-4 years. My budget is USD400-500 and planning to buy within the next 2 months.
I'm not changing my keyboard, mice and headset

Case - CM HAF 912
PSU - CM silent pro M 700Watts
Motherboard - ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 (CPUSocket)
Processor - Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz (STOCK COOLER)
GPU - 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series
RAM - 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
HDD - 465GB Western Digital WDC WD5003AZEX-00K1GA0 ATA Device (SATA)
MONITOR - HP 2159 (1920x1080@60Hz)
DRIVE - SONY DVD RW DRU-880S ATA Device
OPERATING SYSTEM - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Well first off i would get the gtx 970, (you dont need a new cpu) then i would upgrade the hdd because newer hard drives make your content faster and then i would install an ssd 120gb for maximum performance and thats it :)

Before I suggest anything, what is your budget? And do you have a certain colour scheme in mind or are you not really bothered?

I went over the budget because I wanted to get a better RAM, SSD,HDD and a GPU. It's $40 over but for quality parts. If you are not really bothered about the SSD, you could take it off and with any money left under $500 budget you could then get a good cpu cooler.

The CPU you got is amazing, I still have it in my old pc and I love it. It has huge overclocking potential and is just as good as some of the i5 and I7 you find today once it has been overclocked.

I used a program called Speccy to get that info, i think the Dram frequency is 665mhz
