Upgrading my graphics card

Hello currently i have a MSI gaming edition R9 270 paired with a i7 4790 hooked up on a 500w power supply. I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card and was thinking something along the lines of the R9 380 or the R9 280x or even the R9 290. Im thinking around the 200-300 euros range. Could you guys reccomend a card thats gonna last me some time for 1080p gaming.

your power supply wont support a 290/390.

The 380 would work, but it would be a fairly small upgrade from a 270.

Assuming the PSU you have is of decent quality (you didn't specify the model), you could run a GTX 970.

low quality power supply that people report is good for not much more than 300W. Oh, and it doesn't have any pins to connect to a GPU. Which means molex adapters.

Yeah you need to upgrade your power supply if you want a better graphics card.

So you wouldnt reccomend getting a gtx 970 or R9 290 with this power supply ? What might happen ?

I wouldn't even recommend running your current card on it.

If you tried a card that used more power than your current one, the card might not run, you may hear a loud pop and smell smoke as your power supply fries itself, or you may start a small fire inside your power supply as it explodes.
