Sup fellow community members!

Okay so about march / april i was on here asking about possible upgrades etc etc, and came to the decision of upgrading my CPU to i7-6700k

While doing so i got another Asus strix GeForce GTX 970 4GB meaning i had SLI

Now, what i noticed by doing this was jack shit. No noticeable increase in fps, apperently most of my games don't do well with SLI, or support it at all, i know rookie move from me.
I run 3 x monitors of 144 hz @1080p

So i was sadly disappointed in not being able to se a increase that i would have hoped for.

Now i was thinking about buying the 1070, as a hope of increase on fps etc. But is it really worth going from SLI gtx 970 -> Gtx 1070?

I'd like to know pros / cons and suggestions to why to and not to do it. And perhaps you had SLI config, and updated ur self.

My goal is also to be able stream at a high level of quality.

with that in mind, a old friend of mine has offered me 500 euros for my 2 x gtx 970, my old i5-2500k and mobo / ram 16gb.

Since my old rig is boxed away, i was thinking this is a fair price, and was thinking of spending the money from here on the 1070.

gtx 1070 starts at 390 euros in my country and goes to 450 Euros
gtx 1080 starts at 610 euros and goes up to 680 Euros.

But wouldn't mind leaping for the 1080, but then it really has to be that much money better, and a few year safe, in terms of upgrading it again any time soon.

and if i should get a new card, which one, as in brand and model, since there are like 20 different models to pick from.

Thanks in advance!

Current specs are:
Intel Core i7-6700K - Skylake 4 Ghz
Asus strix GeForce GTX 970 4GB SC x 2
Kingston 32 GB RAM f.1600 MHz
ASUS LGA1151 ROG MAXIMUS VIII RANGER
Cm hyper 212 evo cooler
Benq XL2720Z 144 Hz x 3
Ssd 250 x 4
Hdd 1tb x 1
Psu : 750w
Windows 10 64 bit

i have two 970s and am selling them and getting two 1070s
If I were you I would sell the 970s and buy a 1070 or 1080. I'm not exactly sure how much better the 1080 is than the 1070, but since you are running 3x 144 hz monitors, the 1080 would probably work better for your setup. Even going with a 1070 would be better than 2x 970s since 1x powerful GPU is better than 2x weaker GPUs. As for which card, it's based on price and personal preference. A 1070 will always be a 1070, same goes for a 1080.

That's probably better than a single 1080, but I think OP wants a single card since he said that his games didn't scale well on dual 970s.

IF vram could stack and sli scaling was consistant two 970s=one 1070 but in this crazy tech world we live in no its not so g et a 1070
