I have a Western Digital 500GB drive (WD5000AADS-00M2B0 ) running on a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 motherboard (not sure what version). Running Windows 10 Home.

I would like to upgrade the drive to 1TB.

Will it be a straight swap with a WD10EZEX ie same leads etc or will I need an adaptor. Appreciate I won't get the full speed advantage, just want the 1TB. Or is there a better option.

Thanks for any help.

Solution
Is this the only drive in this system?
A better option would be upgrading to a 1TB SSD. Samsung 860 EVO or Crucial MS500.

Either way, what are your plans for getting the OS onto this new drive?

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Yes its the only drive in the system. My main worry was whether I would have any connectivity issues. Its an aging system and just want some more storage really. The SSD's you mention would be lovely but they are over twice the cost.

This is all part of upgrading my current 32 bit Windows 10 installtion to 64 bit. I intend to do a clean install of Windows 10 to the new drive. I will keep the old drive for a bit until I know my apps and games (some equally old!) work ok.
