Upgrading my Laptop Drive, Help Needed

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade laptops harddrive from the 5400rpm to 7200rpm. Anyone done this before? Any noticeable gains in performance on a Celeron 1.6M? I already got a quote from www.rescuetechusa.com that they will do it for $130.

its somewhat difficult to give an objective comparison, because it would depend on the hdds in question... but, heres the link to the 2.5" hdd charts on THG http://www23.tomshardware.com/storage25.html ...and you can make a more informed decision that way about which to get

in general, 7200rpm hdds will allow for your system to be more responsive (as well as being possibly faster), but it will also consume more battery power to run, due to the higher rpms
