Upgrading my memory question

Hello,
can i mix 2gb PC2-8500 DDR2 RAM with 1gb PC-6400 DDR2 RAM as long as they have the same pin numbers? I am looking to upgrade and am planning on buying two 2gb PC2-8500 sticks to replace some old PC-6400 ones. (I would be using 2 x 2gb sticks and 2 x 1gb sticks if i did that)

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Don't waste ur money in PC2-8500 since u won't see any performance difference between 6400 and 8500. Get 2x2GB 6400 like this
