I currently play on a 75 hz monitor for fortnite and I play 70 hz for consistent frame rate. I was looking into upgrading to a 144 hz monitor. I was wondering if there’s like any certain requirements for my pc to be able to push out 144 hz? I don’t want to buy the monitor and realize that my pc can’t handle it.
i do play on the lowest graphic settings if that will help. gt 1030, FX 8350 processor and my motherboard is an ASRock 970m Pro3

my pc has a NVIDIA GT 1030 graphics card, AMD fx( tm)-8350 eight core processor 4.0ghz
Not even close: FX-8350 + GT 1030, low settings, almost 50 games benchmarked

The minimum possible upgrade is gpu based, to a GTX 1660 Super. Your fps averages will be around the 140 mark, but becaus of the old FX-8350, your minimums will be around the 80fps range:
FX-8350 + GTX 1660 Super, almost 50 games benchmarked

If you want to fix those minimums, that'll require a cpu upgrade as well. I'd recommend no less than:
Cpu: Ryzen 2600 or Ryzen 1600 AF(if you can find one)
Motherboard: Any Msi B450 MAX model
Memory: 2x 8GB of at least 3200mhz - slower models will hurt performance.

You don't necessarily need to get your monitor's full refresh rate on a high refresh rate screen. A majority of them support adaptive sync these days, which matches the monitor's refresh rate to whatever frame rate your graphics card is putting out to maintain smoother performance without screen tearing.

As was pointed out though, you would probably want to upgrade more than just the screen, as a GT 1030 with an FX processor will likely struggle to get frame rates over 100fps.
