My Motherboard is ASRock 775dual-VSTA and Power supply is 300W i am scared it all will not work together... Please help me figure this mess up please. Can i fit new CPU and GPU on 775dual-vsta?
My old pc specs(if that helps a bit)
Intel celeron d 2.66 GHz
Ati radeon x300/x550/x1050 series

300W power supply. (i can buy new)
Please help me
Sorry for bad English... I am from Latvia and i am 15.
I will be happy for every answer. So please answer

Solution

Yes, a PSU of 400W will certainly be fine :)
I don't think you can overclock your cpu but you can overclock your Graphics card that's for sure. Make sure before you...
The AMD processor will not work on your motherboard, since it has a socket only compatible for intel processors. Also not every intel processor will work with your motherboard you need to search for processors with a socket LGA 775. I also recommend you to upgrade to 4 GB of RAM since that will greatly improve your performance as well. I think your PSU will work but you'll need to tell me its name before I can be sure, some PSU's say they deliver 300W but their efficiency will be something like 70% making you end up with only 210W. Your Graphics card will fit in your motherboard good.

I just open pc case and power supply reads Codegen model:300x and something ATX2.03(P4).is it good for Msi Geforce 210 ddr3 1Gb? And that intel CPU's two? If power supply need upgrade... I can buy it if it's needed.

I have looked up the specifications of your current PSU and I can safely say that it will not be enough to support your PC power, to be honest I'm surprised that PSU has even kept you running with your current setup. You'll need to buy either any 400W PSU or a very efficient ~350W PSU. To be precise, the DC output of your PSU must be at 200W or higher. The DC output of your current PSU is only 120W and is not enough. Once you get a new PSU you will be able to upgrade your cpu, gpu and RAM without having to worry about power. For your new CPU I'd recommend an Intel Pentium dual-core Wolfsdale-3M 3Ghz. That'd be a nice upgrade for your build.

Tnx for help. And by the way can i just overclock my cpu? I know it is not safe and i have watched youtube video how cpu's just burn when they are overheating. Can i overclock 2.66GHz to 3.2 or more? But i don't want to burn my motherboard or any other thing. I have that old setup for about 10 years😀 and it never ever overheated and old radeon x300/x550/x1050 all the long life was about 0-20°C. Tnx for help again

I looked up for 400W PSU and i found one for 24€ it is ok for me because i prepared for worst price for that old c*@p. I searched and found that my motherboard is only capable of getting 2GB of ram, is it true? I don't want to play Battlefield 4 on full settings and full resolution, but just play Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012 on lowest settings. Can i play it one single core? Can i play it on overclocked single core 2.66GHz?i am confused about those core stuff is single core 2.66ghz better than Duo core 1.3ghz? I know only that my single core have lot of clockspeed

Yes, a PSU of 400W will certainly be fine :)
I don't think you can overclock your cpu but you can overclock your Graphics card that's for sure. Make sure before you start overclocking to read some guides on how to do so without damaging anything.
Dual core 1,3Ghz is not the same as single core 2,6 Ghz no, when a processor is dual core it basically means that it can handle multitasking and handle more applications at the same time better than a single core processor. You can play NFSMW 2012 when you buy your new graphics card but I would recommend getting a dual core processor anyways. Try to get one at about 2,5 ghz or higher if you can afford it. If you don't want to buy a new cpu you can still play NFSMW but probably only at the lowest settings.

Yes you are right your motherboard only supports 2 GB of RAM, that was my mistake :)

Good luck with your computer :)

Solution
I have seen there is some low end pc patch for games or something like that. Does that helps for game performance? I like to play games on low settings, but good fps. I will try play it and see what i can do. In NFSMW2012 is 640x480 reselution or can i tweak it with patches, mods or something?

I think i will a bit overclock my old Radeon till i buy new, can you tell my any software to do that safely, but my old radeon don't have fan and i am afraid i can burn my old GPU to death

Uh could you tell me what patch you found, there could be a lot that you could be referring to. About the resolution, you should be able to change your resolution via the in-game menus, try that.

'MSI Afterburner' is a nice program that you can use for overclocking, I'd recommend that. And yea you should keep an eye on the temperature of the gpu while overclocking it, make sure it doesn't get too high.

Some patch or something from ragnos1997 but patches is in alphas and my pc desktop reselution must be 800x600, I can do that. I will try MSI afterburner. And i will watch GPU temperature. What about GTA 4 and Battlefield 3,can i play them with Msi Geforce 210 ddr3 1Gb and single core 2.66GHz? I have Windows 7 32 bit running on my old setup and i tweaked it and it is pretty fast, i needed GPU with pixel shader 3.0 becouse my old gpu have 128mb and i want play new games, but this is a lot difficult than i think😀

Hm you can play BF3 but it won't run very smoothly, even on low settings. You might get 30 FPS if you put everything on lowest settings and overclock. I have no experience with GTA 4 but it's not very graphically demanding as far as I know so I think you can play it.

You mean this patch?: http://ragnos1997.com/ragnotechclient/
I have no idea if it will work, never tried it but it seems legit. It does say your CPU needs to be x86 or x64 so make sure you meet that specification.

Good luck :)

Tnx for help. I found my intel celeron D is x86-x64 x64 architecture so i can use that patch. I will continue search for more things to lower those games graphics and run them on 30+ FPS

No problem, you may now select a best answer and close the thread :)

Good luck with upgrading and playing 😀
