Operation and Licensing

Operation - Will it boot up or will it choke?
There is no 100% either way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I did this last weekend, and it required a full reinstall of the OS (and everything else).

It might work, it might not.
Prepare for if it does not boot up.

Licensing and activation.
Read and do this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3164428/windows-build-1607-activation.html
Link the OS license to your Microsoft account, rather than to specific hardware.
Do this BEFORE you change the hardware.

Since the Anniversary release in August 2016, 1607, this is no longer true.
