[SOLVED] Upgrading my PC, need advises

My current setup (built around 3 years ago):

Motherboard	B85M-E
CPU	i7-4790 (8 CPU @ 3.60GHz)
RAM	16GB (4GB x 4)
Graphics Card	NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
Monitor	1080p 75Hz
PSU	EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze (B1)
Storage	2 x 250GB SSD, 1 x 500GB HDD

However, I am only getting 40 FPS in Apex Legends at low settings with this setup (although I can get average 120-130 FPS in Overwatch). I want to upgrade my PC, so it can handle more recent games.

• I would like to upgrade my Monitor to 1440p 144Hz, so I am aiming to get 150 FPS in games I usually play, especially Overwatch.
• I also do casual Photoshop work, Premiere Pro video editing on 1080p.

Which components should I look into changing this sales season? (Black Friday + Christmas + end of year sales)
What are some recommendations?

Would something better happen if I aim to get 4K 60Hz monitor instead? (or even 1440p 60Hz monitor?) At the moment, better resolution monitor for productivity (in editing pics and videos + school work) is my main goal, and gaming is secondary goal.

Your CPU isn’t horrible so a GPU upgrade might be sufficient. Your PSU though could use an upgrade to a quality model.

I live in Canada, and GPU options - within my budget - are:
GIGABYTE GTX 1660 ti (CA$350)
MSI (or ZOTAC) RTX 2060 (CA$480)
MSI RX 5700 TX (CA$570)
MSI RTX 2060 Super (CA$570)

Would GTX 1660 ti be sufficient? Would it be able to pull out at least about 120FPS on 1440p? (on Overwatch?)
How about 60FPS on 4K?

1660ti might get 120 FPS on 1080p lol.
5700xt will get better but if you want 144 FPS on 1440p or 60 FPS at 4K you’re looking at a RTX 2080

oh...? I'm getting 120 FPS on 1080p with GTX 1050 on the current setup on Overwatch - during the heat of the fight. While I'm picking heroes or walking to point, I get 150 FPS (if I don't limit the FPS)

Well if we are just talking about overwatch then you’d be the best judge of what you are getting based on your settings. 1660ti is a pretty good upgrade. Everything has a limit though.

If frames are your only concern and you don't mind playing on minimum graphical settings then that 5700 xt would work for a lot of new games at 1440p. Shame to have a 1440p monitor and not play at high settings though.

I care more about fps for competitive games, but when it comes to single player game (Witcher 3, GTA 5, etc.) I don't care about them x)
Do you think it is worth to pay extra $200 for 5700xt rather than 1660ti?

Thank you for the great news! It seems like there's lots of expectation for RX5500 to drop down the (budget) GPU prices once again. I guess I could wait another month until it releases

1660ti is more of a budget card, so it will definitely be interesting to see how it is affected by new market share from the 1650s. Which should be this week!

As for the difference between the 5700xt and 1660ti, I think it is worth the extra 200, but only for AAA titles. High frame low graphics competitive game will see great returns from the 1660ti.
